As I pen this, I’ve clocked an impressive 267 hours into Slay the Spire 2. I’ve experimented with every beta patch and played it almost daily since its launch on Steam on March 5. My personal verdict? Slay the Spire 2 is not only a remarkable game but also a deserving successor to the original Slay the Spire. However, if we remove language filters and include off-topic reviews on Steam, the overall score paints a contrasting picture.
With filtering enabled, Slay the Spire 2 boasts a commendable 94% “Very Positive” rating from my perspective. However, with the filters off, it dips to a 56% “Mixed” score. This discrepancy can be attributed to three instances of review-bombing the game has faced since its release, primarily due to changes in the Doormaker’s power level, lack of nerf for the Doormaker, and controversy over Anita Sarkeesian’s credit inclusion.
Despite the removal of the Doormaker and disregarding the biased reviews stemming from review-bombing, Slay the Spire 2 appears to be universally loved on Steam, with a few exceptions who find the game too challenging. If only there were some sort of guide available to assist them…
