Robert Pattinson has offered reassurance to fans about the future of The Batman Part 2, following news that filming had been halted. At the U.K. premiere of his new film, Primetime, the actor addressed questions about the sequel’s status.

The update comes just a week after DC Studios announced that production on the film had been paused. In a statement, the studio said director Matt Reeves needed to step away due to a “family matter,” prompting concerns among fans about whether the project would be completed.

“We’re pausing for a little bit,” Pattinson told Pop Drop when asked about The Batman Part 2, before adding, “We’re going to figure it all out.” The actor’s comments suggest his continued commitment to the project, though how long production will remain paused is unclear.

The film’s release date remains set for Feb. 18, 2028 and has not been delayed due to Reeves’ absence, according to reports. The Batman Part 2 has already faced a number of delays, having missed its initial Oct. 2025 release.

Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Skydance merger

While details about the sequel’s plot have not been officially confirmed, set photos have fueled speculation that the Court of Owls will play a role in the story. Pattinson is joined by Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, and Andy Serkis, who are reprising their roles as The Penguin, Commissioner Gordon, and Alfred. New cast members include Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent, along with Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance.

The film exists separately from James Gunn’s new DC cinematic universe. As the first of Matt Reeves’s films released before Gunn became head of DC Studios, it was not planned as part of the new universe. Gunn has explained that the franchise hasn’t been added to the new canon because that is Reeves’ choice. This means Pattinson isn’t playing Batman in the DCU.

The current DC slate still includes The Brave and the Bold, a film centered on Batman. According to Deadline, the project is currently in early development. The character has been referenced in existing DC projects, including an off-hand mention in an episode of HBO’s Lanterns.
