Summer Game Fest 2026 kicked off in the only way it knows how: with a thunderous, epic showcase that left the audience spellbound. Capcom opened the event by unveiling the first glimpse of Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the celebrated 2000 title Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
According to the official announcement, Resident Evil Veronica is currently in development and is slated for a 2027 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The project aims to reinterpret the original game for modern audiences, following the trend set by recent remakes.
Unfortunately, Capcom has yet to share further details about the remake. However, given its scheduled debut next year, it is likely that more information will surface in the coming months.
The reveal was subtle at first—an intimate first‑person cinematic scene featuring a lone character arriving in a European village, greeted by an elderly woman in a chilling atmosphere—before the full announcement unfolded.
Within moments, the atmosphere turns chilling and ominous, and the tension escalates as the project is unveiled: it’s none other than Resident Evil Veronica, marking the long‑awaited return of Claire Redfield.
