Ratocalypse is an upcoming strategy RPG auto battler in which players control anthropomorphic medieval rats surviving a zombie plague. According to a report for Rock Paper Shotgun, the game draws clear inspiration from the Fire Emblem series.
The studio behind Ratopia, the Terraria-inspired title released last year and updated as recently as this July, is developing Ratocalypse. The studio did not announce a release date or even a release window for the new game.

In Ratocalypse, a kingdom has fallen to a zombie plague, and players are tasked with uncovering what caused it and finding a way to cure it.
The central mechanic involves designing how units behave in combat. Skills can be slotted into ordered lists at specific points, allowing players to customise when abilities trigger. For example, a defence-boosting skill could be set to activate only above or below a certain HP level, or once a particular number of units are on the battlefield.
Players can also determine how many targets an ability affects and whether it fires before or after other skills. These settings apply across all units, though once combat begins behaviour is largely left to the units themselves. A limited number of additional abilities can be used during a battle, which may matter because units can die relatively easily.
Ratocalypse follows Ratopia, which came out last year and received an update this July.
While there is no release date yet, the studio has put a demo on Steam offering several hours of playtime for players to try before a launch window is announced.
