Ubisoft and Sony have announced a collaboration for the PS5 remake of Rayman Legends that sees the fan-favourite character Astro Bot appear in the game. The little guy that could will be an outfit you can customise Rayman with, and it only appears in the PS5 version of the game.
This is a free costume that’s built into the game, and you’ll unlock it once you meet Victor Velour in his shop.
Rayman previously appeared in 2024’s Astro Bot as a Special Bot you could find in the Winter Wonder level, which was part of the post-game Vicious Void galaxy. Following his appearance in the game, Sony wanted to pay it back by putting an Astro Bot skin in Rayman Legends Retold.
Here is Rayman in Astro Bot on the left, and Astro Bot in Rayman on the right:
On the PlayStation Blog, lead character artist Quentin Chaillet said the team wanted the design to be as faithful as possible to Astro Bot while making sure it still looked like Rayman. “That meant carefully adapting the shapes and proportions, especially his large nose, no arms / legs, and his big shoes, which are such recognizable parts of Rayman’s silhouette.”
“The goal was to incorporate as many of Astro Bot’s signature details as possible, from the reflective metallic parts and glowing blue elements to the smooth white surfaces, without losing Rayman’s personality or expressiveness,” Chaillet continued.
Rayman Legends Retold releases for PS5 on 3rd December 2026, and the Astro Bot skin will be a free in-game unlock. Will you switch to the Astro Bot outfit once you get it? Let us know in the comments below.
