The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) community is abuzz as the official VGC channel has announced the English release of a new card by veteran artist Yuka Morri.
The artwork showcases the classic Generation One Pokémon Mankey, and the card is slated to appear in the forthcoming Pitch Black set.
Morri, celebrated for her distinctive clay‑model style, originally unveiled the card in Japanese as part of the Abyss Eye collection, which centered on Mega Darkrai.

Yuka Morii, a beloved Pokémon illustrator, has been a cornerstone of the Pokémon Trading Card Game since the Neo Discovery set debuted in 2000. Over the past two decades, she has crafted more than 218 cards, cementing her status as one of the most prolific and celebrated artists in the franchise’s history.
Beyond her card work, Morii’s hand‑crafted clay sculptures have graced museum displays at both the Pokémon World Championships and the Pokémon European International Championships, showcasing her artistic versatility and the tangible connection between the game’s visual culture and its global community.
The highly anticipated Pokémon TCG Pitch Black expansion is slated for release on July 17 and will be available at all major retailers. The set promises a robust lineup, featuring six Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards, four Pokémon ex cards, 11 illustration rare cards, 18 ultra‑rare cards, and six special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards.
To give players a head start, the Play! Pokémon program will host an official Prerelease tournament on July 4 at selected independent retailers. Participants will have the chance to test the new cards in a live setting before the official launch, fostering community engagement and generating buzz ahead of the release.
