Get ready, trainers! The world of Pokémon TCG Pocket is about to get even more diverse and strategic. During a special presentation at the PokémonXP event in San Francisco, The Pokémon Company unveiled exciting news: dual-type cards are officially coming to the mobile game!

Dual-Type Decks Incoming!

Starting this October, players will be able to build decks featuring Pokémon with two types, adding a whole new layer of complexity and synergy. The first dual-type card to grace the digital battlefield will be Mega Mewtwo X ex, a powerful Psychic/Fighting-type Pokémon boasting 180 HP. Its “Dual Impact” attack deals significant damage – a whopping 100+! – and gets an extra boost if a Stadium card is in play, dealing an additional 40 damage. This exciting addition was showcased in the latest trailer for Pokémon TCG Pocket, which also confirmed that ex cards for partner Pokémon Piplup and Fuecoco are on their way.

While dual-type Pokémon have been a staple in the core video games since the very beginning, their physical representation was only introduced to the Pokémon Trading Card Game much later, in the mid-2000s. Since then, over 90 dual-type cards have been released. The absence of these versatile cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket was noticeable, but thankfully, that’s about to change!

The arrival of Mega Mewtwo X ex is just the beginning. A recent blog post”>blog post on the official Pokémon website confirms that more dual-type cards are planned for release. This October update will “kick off a new series of Pokémon TCG Pocket expansions,” signaling continued support and fresh content for players to enjoy. With dual-type cards and partner Pokémon ex cards joining the roster, the possibilities for deck building and gameplay strategies in Pokémon TCG Pocket are about to explode!
