After roughly a month of beta testing, Sony has rolled out PlayStation 5 firmware version 26.06-14.00.00 to all users worldwide, officially removing the Community Activity widget from its preview stage and making it available for every console owner to add to their Welcome Hub.
The update, which became available to the general public this week following an extended testing period that began in August, marks the first major change to the firmware since the beta version went live. The Community Activity feature itself had been under test by Sony since May, giving players ample time to weigh in on its functionality before it reached a stable release.
Trending Now and Top 10 Views
The newly stabilized widget offers two distinct views for users: Trending Now and Top 10. The Trending Now section displays a list of ten multiplayer games, or multiplayer modes within individual titles, that are gaining popularity across the PlayStation platform at any given moment.
This is where players can expect to see recently updated games, hot new releases, and titles that have received a promotional sale bump. Each game tile includes an indicator showing what pushed the particular title onto the list, such as a surge in matches played or hours logged by the community during a specific time window.
The distinction between the beta version released back in May and the current stable build is notable to observers of the platform’s development trajectory. The change signaled at the time that Sony may be following Steam’s lead in showing player counts for games on its platform, even if the feature was never as granular or real-time as Valve’s implementation.

Other Features Remain Unchanged
Two other major features of firmware 26.06-14.00.00 have made it out of beta unchanged from their preview state, confirming that Sony had no intention of altering them before the stable release.

The first is a toggle to enable PlayStation’s image upscaling tech (PSSR) by default on supported displays, offering improved visual fidelity for compatible titles. The second provides users with the option to turn off Bluetooth at the console level in certain regions, addressing regulatory and connectivity concerns that had been raised during testing.
The Community Activity widget is now available for all players to add to their console’s Welcome Hub, giving everyone a window into what’s trending across the PlayStation ecosystem.
Sony Interactive Entertainment
Community reaction to the stable release has been largely positive, with many users appreciating the ability to track multiplayer activity directly from their home screen. Technical observers have noted that while the feature lacks the real-time precision of competing platforms’ implementations, it provides a useful snapshot of current trends without requiring players to leave their console’s interface.
Looking Ahead
With firmware 26.06-14.00.00 now available to all users, Sony has signaled that the Community Activity feature remains subject to future updates and refinements as the company continues to gather feedback from players across its ecosystem.
The stable release represents a significant milestone in PlayStation’s ongoing efforts to enhance social connectivity and platform discovery, though some users continue to hope for more granular data and real-time metrics in upcoming patches. As Sony moves forward with firmware development, the community will be watching closely to see whether these promised enhancements ever materialize.
