After months of radio silence amid mounting criticism from its player base, British studio Playground Games has finally issued a public response addressing the frustrations surrounding Forza Horizon 6. The acknowledgment arrived through a post on the studio’s official social channels, in which developers admitted they had under-communicated with fans during the game’s post-launch window and promised to reconsider both upcoming content and how they engage with players going forward.

The studio’s message opened plainly: “Hey Horizon Community,” the post begins, “We’re reading all your comments about Forza Horizon 6, and we realize that we haven’t been talking with you as much as we could be. While we continue to deliver regular content and fixes into the game, we want you to know we hear your feedback about our post-launch updates and we’re looking into future changes to both in-game content and the ways we communicate with you. Stay tuned!”

The mea culpa arrives after a wave of pushback from prominent Forza Horizon content creators who argued that Playground had effectively ignored its community during a period when the game’s live-service model demanded ongoing dialogue.

A Community Growing Restless Under Silence

Forza Horizon 6 launched to widespread critical acclaim, earning a perfect 10 out of 10 from IGN. Yet that praise has done little to quiet complaints about the studio’s near-total absence from public communication with players. As detailed in videos by Forza Horizon content creators STEVIO2175, AR12Gaming, HokiHoshi, and Ericship 111, fans expressed frustration on two fronts: the studio’s silence itself, and the disappearance of features that appeared in earlier entries in the series.

“It just feels like the community engagement between the developers and us is just nonexistent,” said STEVIO2175 in a thorough 19-minute video published in late August. According to these creators, players feel forced to grind through the Horizon Festival playlists simply to unlock new cars — many of which have been recycled from previous Horizon titles — rather than being able to play however they choose.

The studio’s Forza Monthly show, a community-facing program that historically bridged developers and fans, has also gone missing. Some observers in the broader Forza community have speculated whether its absence ties into new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma’s sweeping “reset” and subsequent layoffs across Microsoft’s gaming divisions.

Voice Chat Omitted Despite Series Precedent

Beyond communication concerns, players have flagged a notable technical omission: the complete lack of in-game voice chat in Forza Horizon 6. The absence is particularly striking given that its predecessor, 2023’s Forza Motorsport, still features voice chat to this day.

“Voice chat alone could make FH6 Japan ten times better,” STEVIO2175 said, before returning to his central grievance. “But the thing that bothers me most at the end of the day,” he added, “is the devs have not responded at all. No communication, no public responses, nothing.”

The creator also warned about concerns over replayability beyond the single-player campaign. “Until the socialization and community features get added, if they ever do, player interest is going to continue to drop,” STEVIO2175 said. “And I hope they figure this all out before PS5 hopefully still gets this game.”

The PlayStation 5 Release Looms Uncertain

That remark lands against a backdrop of growing uncertainty surrounding Forza Horizon 6’s console timeline. Microsoft and Playground have yet to announce a release date for the PlayStation 5 version, despite it now being October — and the last the companies said, the game would arrive on PS5 this year. That target now appears increasingly unlikely by the day.

If Playground genuinely needs time to address its communication and content-roadmap criticisms before expanding to a new platform, a delayed PlayStation 5 launch could prove beneficial rather than harmful — provided it is eventually honored.

A Second Studio in Final Stretch

The timing may also reflect competing priorities within the studio. A second team at Playground Games is currently in the stretch run of development on the Fable reboot, slated for release on Xbox, PC, and PS5 on February 23, 2027. It is fair to wonder whether that high-profile project has been drawing resources away from Forza Horizon 6 as its team makes a final sprint toward the finish line.

The studio’s Fable reboot was playable at Gamescom in August, and our coverage of its combat left us quite pleased. As Playground balances that milestone against an increasingly vocal community demanding attention, all eyes will be on whether this first public acknowledgment marks the beginning of a more open relationship with Horizon fans — or merely a single line in response to months of silence.
