Good things take time

Since its launch in May this year, life sim Paralives appears to have been progressing well, with the development team delivering fairly regular updates featuring all sorts of tweaks, big and small. This is certainly confidence-inspiring for an early access title, especially one as systems-driven as this. And now, the Paralives team have outlined their plans for the game’s first major update, which appear heavily focused on improving the core experience.
As part of a four-point plan they outlined, the first item on the docket is “buffing up the basics.” This centers on strengthening some of the currently existing Live Mode systems. That means improvements to how relationships function by unlocking more content as a relationship level increases, adding more interactions that affect your Para’s emotions, enhancing the Community Centre’s bundles, and tweaking the economy curve so that money is not as easy to earn.
The next point involves expanding Live Mode, meaning the addition of a pair of new skills, more “together” and story cards, new relationship label unlockables, and additional jobs. Build Mode will also see improvements, with a strong focus on fixing build-breaking bugs. Players can also expect new pieces of furniture and items, along with a tweak to furniture and item efficiency.
Lastly, there are also planned improvements to the Paramaker. One involves adding more hairstyles and clothing items, notably baggy outfits, while the other increases the range of fat and muscle sliders “to represent a wider variety of body shapes.” As a bigger person myself, I’m always enthused when character creators actually let you have a fat body, so this is a welcome addition from the dev team.
Worth noting is that this list “is not final,” and some items may be pushed back while others are added in. Also worth noting is that while this first major update was originally planned for the end of 2026, it has been pushed into next year as the team needs a bit more time. You can read about all of these plans in more detail over on Steam.
