Nvidia has denied reports that its GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card has been discontinued, confirming the flagship GPU will keep shipping even though supply is currently limited.

The response follows leaks earlier this month claiming Nvidia was ending production of its most powerful gaming GPU to prioritize more profitable AI and professional hardware.
Nvidia exec says the RTX 5090 will keep shipping
Jeff Fisher, Nvidia’s Senior Vice President of Personal Computing, addressed the rumors after the company’s RTX Spark Launch Party in Taipei on October 16. Speaking to 4Gamers, Fisher admitted Nvidia is dealing with supply constraints but insisted the card is not going anywhere.
Nvidia“The supply chain is indeed a bit constrained, but Nvidia is going all out to get products to market,” Fisher said, translated from Chinese. “Although the RTX 5090 has other variants, it has definitely not been discontinued. Nvidia will continue shipping, and this is very important.”
Fisher did not explain what the card’s “other variants” are or how long supply is expected to stay tight.
The rumors began when hardware leaker hongxing2020 claimed Nvidia was stopping RTX 5090 production, citing a factory notice. Fellow leaker Zed__Wang backed up the claim shortly after.
According to the leaks, production of both the RTX 5090 and the China-only RTX 5090 D would end so the chips could be used in professional graphics cards and data center hardware instead. An RTX 5080 with 24GB of memory was also tipped to replace the current 16GB model as Nvidia’s top consumer card.

Nvidia had not commented on the reports until now, with Fisher’s interview being the first time the company has publicly addressed them.
The supply issue is not new for Nvidia this year. The company reportedly cutting RTX 50 series production back in February due to a global memory shortage.
