Since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, players have yearned for a more complete representation of the American West, especially given the game’s map included locations from the original Red Dead title. Now, that dream is about to become a reality with “Nuevo Paraiso,” a highly detailed Mexico expansion mod set to launch next month.
A Labor of Love: Bringing Mexico to Life
Spearheaded by veteran modder Rixus724, who has been instrumental in previous attempts at creating an RDR2 Mexico expansion, “Nuevo Paraiso” promises a truly immersive experience. The mod is slated for release on September 16th, as revealed in the trailer description released over the weekend.
“Return to Mexico and rediscover the vast and unforgiving state of Nuevo Paraíso, recreated to fit seamlessly within the story and timeline of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 1907,” reads the mod’s description. “Explore a Mexico on the brink of change, where beautiful landscapes and growing settlements stand alongside political unrest, government oppression, and a population struggling under an increasingly unstable regime.”
More Than Just Scenery: A Living Frontier
The trailer showcases the breadth of what “Nuevo Paraiso” offers. Players can “experience Nuevo Paraíso as a living frontier, from its quiet towns and remote ranches to its railways, bandit hideouts, and territories under government control.” Expect gang hideouts, opportunities for train robberies, new mysteries to unravel, and hidden secrets waiting to be discovered. As the modder declares, “Every corner offers something new to discover as Nuevo Paraíso expands beyond its original boundaries.”
The trailer also features cameos from both John Marston and Sadie Adler. While it’s unclear if these are just for show or integral to the mod’s narrative, fans will undoubtedly be eager to see how these iconic characters interact with the new environment. One can only hope that any dialogue is handled with the same level of quality as the original game.
Get Ready to Ride South
