During the latest Nintendo Direct, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave stole the spotlight, unveiling its release date and a fresh trailer that lays out the story’s core premise. The title will launch exclusively on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Following the presentation, details emerged about the game’s physical retail price. Nintendo has long hinted that Switch 2 titles will carry a higher price tag on disc, citing the recent Donkey Kong Bananza launch at €79.99 for a physical copy versus €69.99 for the digital download.
Former Nintendo of America employee Kit Ellis, who once handled social content, took to X to comment that “Fire Emblem costs $80 because Nintendo knows fans are so loyal they’ll pay a premium for a physical copy.” He added that the collector’s edition will follow suit, priced at €109.99 via GAME.
Ellis suggests we anticipate a comparable commercial push for the launch of Xenoblade Genesis, noting that the game is aimed at a devoted fanbase of Monolith Soft’s beloved franchise.
