Nintendo has released two new trailers for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, one of which briefly shows the return of Sombre Link ahead of the game’s launch in a few weeks.
Sombre Link is an antagonist who appears across various games in the series to battle the silent hero, Link. In the trailer, he can be seen at roughly the 15-second mark flipping onto Link’s sword and standing on it. The same footage shows Ganon playing the piano, Link aboard a pirate ship, and Link fighting enemies inside dungeons. A second trailer uploaded to Nintendo’s Japanese YouTube account focuses instead on the ocarina, the Master Sword, and exploration of Hyrule.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake faces heavy scrutiny from fans of the original 1998 classic as well as modern gamers who have only played newer games shaped by it. So far, Nintendo appears to have balanced those expectations.
A wave of gameplay previews emerged this week, including a glowing account from Polygon’s Michael McWhertor after roughly 30 minutes with the update. “The remake is both incredibly impressive graphically and the game now plays better than ever,” he wrote. “One impression of the remake remained consistent throughout my hands-on time: Nintendo’s new Zelda is snappy, streamlined, and polished in ways that make it feel totally fresh.”
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be released on Nov. 5 for Nintendo Switch 2.
