In addition to more than 30 novels, graphic novels, and a dozen or so games in the franchise, the Halo universe is getting another entry. The newest Halo novel, Halo: Parasite’s Wake, arrives in two weeks, on October 20.
The book comes from Gallery Books and is written by New York Times–bestselling author Tim Lebbon, who has won awards for dark fantasy, thriller, and horror novels such as The Silence. He has also produced novelizations of films and other media series including Alien, Hellboy, and Firefly.
Parasite’s Wake is set in the year 2552, on the planet Reach, which has just fallen to the alien alliance known as the Covenant. The UNSC Pillar of Autumn, a human ship, escapes the Covenant into slipspace and arrives at the series’ eponymous ringworld, Halo.

The novel does not feature Master Chief John-117. Instead it follows Staff Sergeant Marvin Mobuto, leader of a squad of drunks, deserters, and murderers who survived in the brig when the Autumn crashed. He must keep those criminals under control while fighting off zealous Covenant warriors, even as an even more terrible threat brews within the hellish Halo underworld.
For fans wanting to continue their time on the ringworld, only a couple of weeks remain before Halo: Parasite’s Wake is released.
