Naughty Dog celebrated The Last of Us Day 2026 this week with a collection of franchise tributes spanning a Ghost of Yotei armor set, PlayStation and Steam avatars, and an hour-long post-apocalyptic ambience video, yet the studio offered no confirmation of The Last of Us Part 3 as supporters continued to plead for any sign of the long-awaited sequel.
The Sony studio teased plans for its annual holiday over the weekend, and fans arrived expecting either a sequel announcement or perhaps another remaster of an existing title. Instead, the developer unveiled a series of smaller surprises designed to keep the community engaged, confirming that the celebration would lean on nostalgia and cross-promotion rather than a major new reveal.
A Clicker’s Shadow Falls on Ghost of Yotei
The centerpiece of today’s announcements is an armor set arriving in Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Yotei. Starting October 1, players can enter the sequel’s Most Wanted mode sporting Clicker-inspired armor, a nod to one of the series’ most harrowing infected. Once unlocked, the set remains usable throughout the base game as well as its new Echoes of Sekigahara DLC.

The armor joins a broader spread of merchandise and digital content. Naughty Dog announced a partnership with collectible company Youtooz for a Bloody Clicker figure, while PlayStation users gain four new themed avatars on top of the previously revealed Welcome Hub background wallpaper. Additional avatars will become available on PC through Steam, extending the celebration beyond the PlayStation ecosystem.
Sales, Ambience, and a Charity Stream
Also beginning October 1 at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT, a new Steam and Epic Games Store sale will discount The Last of Us Part 1 by 50% and The Last of Us Part 2 by 33%, offering an affordable entry point for newcomers drawn to the franchise. For those longing to revisit the Cordyceps-infested world, the studio released a new hour-long subway ambiance video, a meditative companion for fans who miss living inside the series’ haunting environments.
In addition to the digital goodies, Naughty Dog hosted a No Return charity stream for AbleGamers, a group that works to make gaming more accessible. The studio also established dedicated The Last of Us social media pages across Instagram, Facebook, and X/Twitter, creating centralized hubs for franchise-specific content going forward.
While The Last of Us Day 2026 offered plenty to celebrate, the studio’s biggest reveal was what it withheld: no word at all on whether The Last of Us Part 3 is in development.
Gamer24h
None of today’s announcements carried a single tease for The Last of Us Part 3. It has been more than six years since Naughty Dog released The Last of Us Part 2, the series’ latest mainline entry. That span has nonetheless produced significant franchise milestones, including two seasons of the acclaimed live-action HBO adaptation, even as the absence of a sequel has disappointed devoted followers.
Looking Ahead
With The Last of Us Part 3 remaining absent and without official confirmation that it is even in development, Naughty Dog stays deeply focused on its next new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Initial footage for the project seemed promising when shown off in 2024, but two years later, details remain scarce.
