The countdown to the next Call of Duty installment is already underway, and players will soon have the chance to test the game in a dedicated beta before its official launch on October 23.

Modern Warfare 4 will feature a rich campaign and a DMZ extraction mode, complemented by an expansive multiplayer lineup that introduces 12 fresh maps, a suite of new weapons, operators, and gameplay modes—plus a generous selection of weapon skins to keep the grind exciting.

During Fanatics Fest in July, attendees in New York City were treated to an exclusive early look at MW4, but the broader community will soon gain access to a multiplayer preview.

Activision has just released the full beta schedule for Modern Warfare 4, outlining the upcoming testing windows.

The beta will unfold in two distinct phases: an Early Access window from August 21 to 25, followed by an Open Beta from August 28 to September 1. Importantly, for the first time in years, the franchise will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2, with pre‑orders opening on August 28 and the Open Beta available to all players.

Activision has revealed that players will soon be able to dive into a diverse array of multiplayer arenas and gameplay styles, selecting from an expanded roster of fresh Operators—including every Vault Edition character for those who secure the pre‑order bundle—and can equip up to 19 distinct weapons before engaging in anything from intimate 3v3 duels to sprawling, tank‑laden confrontations.

The update will also reintroduce classic modes such as Search & Destroy while unveiling the brand‑new Kill Block and a Training Mobility Course. Players will enjoy seamless movement and world‑class ballistics, craft personalized loadouts with Gunny’s guidance, and progress through a wealth of weapons, tactical gear, lethal attachments, field upgrades, perks, and kill‑streaks.
