Warzone Shuts Down on PS4 as Modern Warfare 4 Goes Current

Activision has announced that the PlayStation 4 version of Warzone will be shut down and rendered unplayable once the first season of Call of Duty: Modern War 4 launches.

Modern War 4, revealed earlier today, marks the franchise’s first title to be released exclusively on current‑generation consoles, meaning there will be no PS4 version of the game. The studio plans to release yearly installments, delivering new content for both the latest title and Warzone simultaneously, with extensive crossover features.

To fully support Modern War 4, Warzone will no longer be available on PS4. While the exact date for the PS4 servers to go offline has not been disclosed beyond occurring alongside Season 1 of Modern War 4, the base game is set to launch on 23 October 2026, with the first season typically arriving a few weeks later.

From 4 June 2026, the standalone Warzone mode will be delisted and removed from the PlayStation Store. If you’re still using a PS4 and have any interest in Warzone, you’ll have just one week to add it to your account and download it. On 25 June 2026, the in‑game store will be disabled on PS4, effectively ending the game’s availability on the platform.
