DC’s upcoming animated series Mister Miracle will star Josh Hutcherson as Scott Free, with Mackenzie Davis cast as Big Barda. The casting announcement came from DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran.
Hutcherson is known for roles in The Hunger Játékok and Five Nights at Freddy’s, while Davis has appeared in Speak No Evil and Terminator: Sötét Fate. Safran made the announcement speaking with IGN in an interview published earlier today.

Safran also revealed that showrunner Tom King wrote all eight episodes of the series himself. King, a prolific DC author, created the 12-issue, Eisner Award-winning 2017 Mister Miracle comic alongside artist Mitch Gerads. That series forms the basis for the upcoming animated adaptation.

“I think that Tom King really learned a lot in his season of co-creating and executive producing Lanterns and he adapted his book Mister Miracle fully on his own, wrote all eight episodes and I think it’s just dynamite,” said Safran. “Josh Hutcherson as Scott Free and Mackenzie Davis as Big Barda. And I just think it’s a book that I’ve always loved and I remember Tom telling us early on that, every convention he goes to, at least a couple people come up to him and say this book saved my life and I love that we got to tell that story over eight episodes.”

No network or release date for Mister Miracle has been announced.

Safran also addressed the status of Lanterns, noting that a potential future for the series is currently being worked out, depending on whether the team can find a story worthy of following up its first season. Whether the show will receive a second season remains unconfirmed.
