At this weekend’s Twitchcon in Rotterdam, Mojang staged a special Minecraft Live broadcast, unveiling a trio of exciting announcements: a fresh Minecraft update, the highly anticipated sequel to Minecraft Dungeons, and a forthcoming movie sequel.
In a definitive statement, Mojang confirmed that the upcoming Minecraft update, titled Chaos Cubed, will launch on 16 June 2026. The patch introduces the new passive mob known as Sulfur Cubes, which roam aimlessly through sulfur caves until provoked by player interaction.
According to the official Minecraft website, Sulfur Cubes are passive entities that spend their time idly hopping around sulfur caves—until you feed them a block. These cubes can ingest a variety of blocks, whether you drop them nearby or hand them directly, each block altering the cube’s physical traits. Experimentation can reveal how to propel a Sulfur Cube, make it bounce, slide, or even respond to TNT and magma.
If you wish to transport a Sulfur Cube more reliably, simply scoop it up with a bucket; it will then be placed directly into your inventory, ready for relocation and new adventures.
This latest patch expands the world with a host of fresh terrain features, including sulfur-filled caverns, sharp spikes, buoyant springs, and eruptive geysers. Players will also discover new block sets, the vibrant Bounce music disc, and a variety of other enhancements.
The highly anticipated Dappled Forest biome has been unveiled, bringing a lush, mossy environment to the game. The new biome introduces wool stairs and slabs, abandoned campsites, and is slated to enter testing this summer.
A fresh free add‑on, the Minecraft LEGO Chicken Mounts, is now available on the Marketplace. These whimsical mounts let players ride, customize, and even battle chickens, offering a playful twist for fans of the game.
During its most recent livestream, Mojang reaffirmed that Minecraft Dungeons II remains slated for a 2026 launch on both the Nintendo Switch and its successor, Switch 2.
