Just days after our earlier coverage, Microsoft revealed that its new “Copilot Design System,” spearheaded by veteran designer Jon Friedman now serving as Chief Design Officer, is finally beginning to deliver tangible benefits to Microsoft 365 users.
In the revamped Copilot app, the prompt box has been noticeably enlarged, and a suite of tools and controls now sits just below it, allowing users to accomplish tasks more swiftly. Microsoft argues that this streamlined layout delivers a faster, more responsive experience, acknowledging that an interface that lags or produces hasty, disjointed responses simply fails to serve its purpose.
Microsoft has officially rolled out this cleaner, faster Copilot redesign across the entire Microsoft 365 suite, delivering a more task‑focused interface that promises to elevate everyday productivity for users worldwide.
In a bold claim of market traction, Microsoft reports a surge in Copilot usage across its Office suite: Word has seen a 27% uptick, Excel a 33% rise, PowerPoint a 43% jump, and Outlook a 30% increase. These figures come from a limited sample taken just days after the new experiences were rolled out, so they reflect short‑term momentum rather than long‑term adoption trends.
The company’s redesign underscores a strategic pivot from isolated functionalities to interconnected, human‑centric experiences. Rather than merely speeding up processes or adding visual flair, the new Copilot is engineered to feel more intuitive and engaging, aligning with broader industry trends toward seamless AI integration. Further details can be found in the official announcement.
