OLED genuinely dominates motion clarity because pixel transitions hit ~0.03ms GTG, so there’s zero overdrive calibration required. Fast IPS panels lean on voltage overdrive curves, and crank them too aggressive and you get overshoot—those white inverse-ghost trails trailing your crosshair in CS2 that actually hurt target tracking worse than the blur ever would. Dial overdrive to Adaptive or level 2-3, then validate with a Lagdemon or Pyretro test checking for halos before trusting the 1ms spec sheet.

For competitive titles, netcode and input latency matter more than raw response. Valorant runs 60-tick, CS2 is latency-anchored, so a locked 240Hz with clean frame pacing easily beats a 360Hz panel dumping uncapped frames. I measure input-to-photon latency with a high-speed camera or Photopad, and OLED setups often shave 3-5ms off the signal path since there’s no overdrive processing stage in the chain. Keep mouse polling at 1000Hz minimum, 4000Hz if your SoC copes, and chase sub-1ms frame times over raw peak FPS.

Burn-in is a non-issue now with TCON firmware looping pixel-shifting and logo dimming, so Valorant’s static crosshair and radar won’t etch permanently. If you want the safest daily driver, a proven Fast IPS like the BenQ Zowie or ASUS ROG Swift range is solid, but for pure zero-ghost competitive play, OLED is the endgame.
