For the transport layer, forget the classic Windows IPC primitives most people reach for—named pipes and WM_COPYDATA are convenient but they’re trivially spoofable because any process can open a handle to a named object. What actually matters is that both directions authenticate each other, not just the client-to-service path. I’d anchor the channel on a loopback socket bound to 127.0.0.1 with an ephemeral port, then do a mutual authenticated handshake using an ephemeral Diffie–Hellman exchange (X25519 is the pragmatic choice) to establish a session key, followed by an AES-256-GCM authenticated stream. The critical detail everyone underestimates is binding the session to the process identity: the anti-cheat driver-side component should verify the game process token and image path, and the client should verify the service’s signed binary. You want a signed attestation blob from the kernel component embedded in the handshake so the client can

Alright guys, update time — I’ve been battling random micro-stutters and frame drops for weeks, and it was driving me insane because everything looked fine on paper. I followed your advice and dug into the DPC latency stuff, ran the measurements, and it was pointing straight at a setting I’d never touched. Turns out I had some power management thing set weird in my BIOS (the PCIe link state power management, for anyone curious). I disabled it, rebooted, and ran the same stress test — the latency spikes are basically gone and my 1% lows are way more stable now. Honestly feels like a completely different experience. Thanks so much for the help, you legends!
