Great topic, and honestly one where I’ve seen people waste hours chasing the wrong culprit. Before you start nuking NVIDIA components, run LatencyMon and let it sample for at least 10 minutes while you’re actually in-game or running your benchmark loop—the single-threaded DPC time column is what matters, not the CPU usage numbers. What I’ve consistently found is that the NVIDIA driver (Nvlddmkm.sys) often shows up, but the actual peak offender is frequently a different driver entirely: network stack components like Tcpip.sys or Ndis.sys from onboard NICs, or the SSD/storage controller hitting high interrupt counts. The NVIDIA piece that genuinely contributes is usually the streaming/recording stack—NvContainer, Shadowplay’s instant replay, and the hardware encoder threads—rather than the base display driver itself.
