Great topic, and honestly one that doesn’t get nearly enough discussion. On the pixel inversion side, the key thing most people miss is that inversion strategy is fundamentally a wear-balancing algorithm, not just a burn-in mitigation trick. Most modern OLEDs use a combination of frame inversion and subpixel-level cell inversion so that the cumulative charge density across R/G/B subpixels stays roughly uniform over thousands of hours. The catch is that the inversion pattern itself can introduce visible artifacts—particularly on static dark frames with subtle gradients, where you’ll see faint banding or a “grid” shimmer if the inversion isn’t properly dithered. On competitive titles this usually doesn’t matter for gameplay, but if you’re doing screen-capture or content work, you want a panel that

Great topic — the core distinction everyone gets wrong is that hitscan and ballistic aren’t just visual differences, they’re fundamentally different registration pipelines. In a server-authoritative hitscan system, the client just sends a “fire” packet with your aim orientation and the server performs a raycast — P(t) = origin + t · direction — against the authoritative hitbox volumes up to the weapon’s max range, then broadcasts the result. The catch for competitive play is that the server raycast originates from the actual muzzle or crosshair center depending on the engine, and it uses the server’s snapshot of your view angle at the time it processes the packet, not your client’s prediction.
