With traditional mechanical micro switches, you’re dealing with physical metal contacts that physically bounce when they touch—that’s not metaphorical, they literally vibrate on impact for a few milliseconds, generating a burst of false “make/break” signals. To prevent the mouse from registering a phantom double-click, the firmware applies a debounce window, which is just a delay where it ignores any subsequent signals after the first. This is where latency bleeds in: a 1ms debounce delay means your click isn’t fully registered until 1ms after the physical actuation, and you’ll see everything from 0.
