Your Windows kernel runs as a privileged partition, but the integrity-critical components—code integrity checks, credential guard, the kernel DMA protection, and memory isolation—get relocated into that hypervisor-managed secure partition. HVCI specifically enforces that only signed, trusted code can execute in kernel mode by validating every driver and module against code integrity policies before it’s allowed in memory.
