Micro-LED’s fundamental appeal for competitive play comes down to the self-emitting pixel architecture—there’s no backlight layer and no color conversion bottleneck between subpixels, which means pixel response times drop into the sub-nanosecond range. For FPS titles, this is a genuine differentiator: you’re looking at effectively zero motion blur and no ghosting the way OLED suffers from at high refresh rates, combined with the instantaneous switching OLEDs are known for. Unlike OLED though, there’s no color-filter stack eating into efficiency, so you can push sustained brightness well past 1,000 nits without the dimming penalty, which matters when you’re playing in a bright streaming setup or a tournament hall. The real architectural question I keep coming back to is the backplane design—TCO (thin-film transistor) backplanes can drive the tiny pixel pitches Micro-LED needs for high PPI, but the tradeoff is lower electron mobility versus the LTPS approaches used today, so matching

The real story here comes down to the static-to-kinetic friction ratio, and most people completely gloss over that. Static friction is what you fight to overcome at the start of a flick
