Great topic for turn #4. Historically, the shift from rigid state machines to blend trees was really about smoothing out the “pop-in” feel of transitions, but the real paradigm break came when root motion moved from a niche cinematic tool into the competitive competitive fighting and shooter space. Before that, most input-driven movement decoupled the animation from the actual physics, which created that classic desync where your character’s feet don’t match the ground—terrible for spacing-sensitive games. Root motion fixed the visual fidelity, but it shoved the problem onto the netcode side, which is exactly where server-verified kinematics

Followed everyone’s advice and finally nailed down my rapid trigger calibration—the key was resetting the Hall effect actuation points to a symmetric 0.8mm/1.2mm split instead of leaving them at the factory asymmetrical defaults. Once I re-calibrated in the driver and killed the adaptive deadzone that was fighting me, the soft-press flicks stopped double-firing and the deeper taps register clean. Works perfectly now, thanks for all the help guys!
