Sam Hulick, composer of the Mass Effect trilogy, has said he wants to rescore the enticing trailer BioWare made for its cancelled Mass Effect Universe ahead of N7 Day.

He set out that plan on X, writing: “Alright. My plan is to release the re-scored Mass Effect Universe trailer for N7 Day. A little tight, since I’m a bit busy pitching for a new game, but I’ll see what I can do! I don’t wanna rush it, and I want it to properly represent my musical vision for MEU.”
The Mass Effect Universe trailer, which came out last week, was meant to show EA and BioWare management what the now-cancelled fifth Mass Effect game would look like. The music and assets were never intended for public eyes, which is why the rescore exists.
It also turns out Hulick is not the only composer hoping to release some Mass Effect Universe music. Austin Wintory, known for his work on Sword of the Sea, Journey and Hades 2, posted 20 minutes of music he shared with BioWare staff back in 2025 while hoping to work on Mass Effect Universe.
Wintory and Hulick are among many who criticised the closure of BioWare last week, which hit 50 employees there, as part of a wider restructuring that affected hundreds of others elsewhere in EA. That came just a few months after EA was acquired by Saudi Arabia’s Savvy Jocuri Group and Jared Kushner’s private equity firm.

Palworld, the survival crafting game featuring adorable animals seemingly inspired by Pokémon, has been locked in a legal battle with Nintendo over what the company says is patent infringement. But even though the lawsuit is ongoing, Palworld developer Pocketpair still says it wants to bring the game to Switch 2.
Speaking to VGC, Pocketpair CEO Takuru Mizobe said he “of course” wants to bring the game to Nintendo’s console. “First of all, I should say that we think the Switch 2 is a really amazing platform, not just for games globally, but especially here in Japan and for the Japanese games industry. It’s been an incredible platform.
“If there’s ever a future where we have the opportunity to discuss or consider bringing Palworld to the Switch platform in some way, then we’d love to have those conversations.”
This stance isn’t particularly surprising; Mizobe previously said it would be difficult to bring Palworld to the original Switch given how demanding the game is, but that could change if Switch 2 – the specs of which had yet to be revealed – has hardware capable enough to run the game. One year later, Pocketpair communications director John Buckley told IGN that a Switch 2 port was worth considering, assuming the console could handle the game.
Still, technical capabilities aside, we’re not likely to see Palworld on Switch 2 until the lawsuit between Pocketpair and Nintendo is resolved. We’re scheduled to hear an update on it soon, as the Tokyo District Court is set to issue a preliminary view on 9th November.
Palworld has sold over 30 million copies since its release in 2024, with July’s 1.0 update attracting almost 1 million concurrent players on Steam.
