Version 1.001.006 went live for PlayStation 5 owners just recently, bringing three new toggle settings that let players disable collectible-hunting guides while the developer continues to iron out the remaining issues that surfaced in the days since the title released on September 15, 2026.
The patch introduces on/off toggles for Whiskey Bottle Scent Trails, Material Crate Audio Clues, and Nightmare Door Roots. The first two options proved to be the most contentious online, with players lambasting the in-game hints as among the clearest examples of a game many felt was far too “hand-holdy.” Adding the ability to completely mute these guides should, in theory, quiet those concerns, while the Nightmare Door Roots toggle offers even more freedom for players to shape their Wolverine experience to their own taste.
A Menu of Freedom, With Story Trails Kept Intact
The new toggles are straightforward in practice. If players find the wavy visual trails too distracting, they can simply flip them off. As noted in the in-game settings, however, using Wolverine’s Crate Finder and Whiskey Finder Adaptations will override any flipped toggles, meaning players who lean on those tools will still receive the guiding cues. Insomniac has also taken steps to make story-driven scent trails less intrusive: last week’s update reduced trail opacity, effectively nerfing the so-called “fart gas” without removing it from the experience entirely.

Beyond the toggles, the update tackles several crashes reported by the community, along with a handful of other glitches. One of the more common problems fans may have seen in viral clips online was Logan getting his claws stuck while sliding down an early-game tree in “The One That Got Away.” Insomniac said that issue should be resolved now, with a separate problem tied to misaligned claws in Photo Mode also patched.
The patch notes also address a strange set of bathroom signs that had sparked a wider debate. Players feared the signs suggested Insomniac had used generative AI in Marvel’s Wolverine before the studio stepped in to deny the accusations with an explanation. Those signs won’t be an eyesore going forward, as the update fixes an overlapping bathroom sign in the casino caused by a UV mapping issue.
Other fixes include resolving rare instances where objects may turn white after extended play sessions, and addressing several crashes identified through crash logs and community reports.
