Marvel Unveils Avengers: Doomsday Poster Featuring Doctor Doom and Three Mysterious Latverian Witches

Marvel Studios has unveiled a fresh poster for its upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday, offering audiences a more detailed look at Robert Downey Jr.’s menacing Doctor Doom alongside the three masked Latverian witches who will stand by his side when the film arrives in theaters this December. The poster was shared on social media as part of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, an event held over the weekend in Spain that drew appearances from cast members including Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, and David Harbor.

The new promotional image places Doctor Doom front and center, striking a pose reminiscent of earlier marketing but bathed in sharper, more dramatic lighting. Yet it is not Doom himself who has generated the most buzz; rather, it is the trio of robed figures standing silently behind him whose hidden identities have become one of the most hotly debated topics among fans over recent months.

The Latverian Witches Spark Speculation

These three mystery characters first made a public appearance this past July at San Diego Comic-Con in California, where they donned purple, red, and green robes that immediately captured attention. While casual observers might assume the figures are little more than expendable henchmen destined to be dispatched during a massive CGI battle sequence, many fans suspect there is far more beneath those cold metal masks.

Theories have proliferated online regarding who lies behind each mask. Some speculate that the witch in red robes could be Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, while others believe the green-robed figure is Sylvie, played by Loki alum Sophia Di Martino. The identity of the purple-robed witch has divided fans even further, with some pointing to Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness and others suggesting it may be Clea, the character Charlize Therson portrayed in a cameo during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

As these remain mere theories for now, there is always the possibility that all three witches are simply Doom drones built to challenge the Avengers. Still, recent developments within the Marvel Cinematic Universe have led some observers to believe the film may be saving several secret cameos for the big screen.

Mackie Teases “Non-Stop Pandemonium”

Casting his Comic-Con appearance as an opportunity to hint at some of the most surprising moments in the upcoming movie, Anthony Mackie emphasized the sheer scale of destruction audiences can expect. The moment was captured and shared online by X/Twitter user @CatherineComTH.

“I think the big thing is the amount of doom you’re going to see. Every corner we turn and every time somebody speaks, it’s like, ‘There’s a lot of doom outside.’ It’s non-stop pandemonium.”

Mackie also drew comparisons to the Russo brothers’ previous work on Avengers: Endgame, praising their signature ability to give every character meaningful screen time.

“The best part about that is what the Russo brothers are great at: giving every character and every person their moment. Every time I go to watch Endgame, every single character was given their moment for the audience to connect with them and grieve with them. I think it’s the same in this movie. You just have so many people.”

Looking Ahead

All questions surrounding Doctor Doom, his Latverian witches, and the fate of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be answered when Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026. Until then, fans can revisit what directors Joe and Anthony Russo had to say about the film’s runtime, or read what Nightcrawler actor Alan Cumming said regarding his lack of understanding of the movie’s plot.
