NetEase, the publisher behind Marvel Rivals, has taken decisive action by permanently banning 485 accounts and blocking three devices following the latest weekend update.
The announcement appeared on Marvel Rivals’ official website in a blog post titled “Penalty Announcement: Zero Tolerance on Cheats.”
According to NetEase’s telemetry, players were exploiting “third‑party enhancements” after the May 21, 2026 update. By May 25, the company had removed 485 accounts from the game permanently. The blog warned that “this blatant disruption of our fair battlefield has sparked widespread concern across the Chronoverse. In response, our security teams have initiated an immediate, targeted purge.”
NetEase reiterated that preserving a fair and honorable arena remains its top priority. The company employs a multi‑layered anti‑cheat strategy that includes real‑time monitoring, abnormal behavior detection, historical data reviews, and manual verification. This latest enforcement wave builds upon the firm’s foundational security framework to address newly discovered cheating methods.
After a thorough investigation, we have permanently banned every account found to be engaged in cheating activities—including the use of cheats, illicit assist programs, or client modifications. Our security team has already catalogued the signatures of these cheats, and they have been incorporated into our automated penalty system. From now on, any account that is confirmed to be running such illicit software will be banned immediately.
The accompanying blog post lists all 485 banned accounts—personal details have been redacted—showing that offenders spanned a wide range of in‑game ranks. Additionally, three players faced permanent device bans, one of whom held the coveted One Above All rank.
If you believe you have been mistakenly penalized, you may submit an appeal through our official Customer Support channels. However, be certain that you were not engaging in any cheating before doing so.
The blog also cautions against further attempts to bypass Rivals’ anti‑cheat system. Rumors that launch parameters can disable the protection are entirely false. Our anti‑cheat runs concurrently with the game client and cannot be turned off independently; the mentioned parameter merely conceals a pop‑up window and does not deactivate the security software.
Marvel Rivals has surpassed the 40‑million‑player milestone, generating a staggering $2.9 billion in revenue for NetEase during February 2025.
Yet, in a surprising turn, the game’s director and several key developers were let go in the same month, signaling a sharp shift in the studio’s priorities.
