Marathon’s Survival Mode: Can Your Team Conquer the Rooks?

Marathon is set to launch its second season, and with it comes a fresh, free‑to‑play trial week featuring a brand‑new mode called Sponsored Survival—a “PVP‑lite” experience according to Bungie.

Bungie described Sponsored Survival as a hybrid between intense, high‑risk gameplay and a more relaxed, exploratory session. Players will initially find themselves alone in the newly added Night Marsh zone, free to roam, loot, and illuminate the darkness without the threat of hostile players.

While the UESC remains active and new shadowy enemies emerge, the map will gradually fill with individual Rooks. From that point, the community will decide whether to keep looting peacefully or to band together and challenge the lone three‑person crew.

In the upcoming mode, players will face a relentless 18‑minute countdown and a solitary exfiltration point, ensuring that every match culminates in a tense, high‑stakes showdown.
