Wizards of the Coast has unveiled its third crossover set with Marvel, titled Darkhold Destiny, ahead of a Magic: The Gaming panel at the New York Comic Con. Details on cards and mechanics remain undisclosed.
The announcement was teased in a YouTube video from Wizards of the Coast and Marvel. While specifics have not been revealed, some artwork has already surfaced. According to reports for IGN by Jackie Thomas, Senior Tech Editor, the art appears well-suited to Magic’s aesthetic compared to previous crossover releases.
This marks another entry in the Universes Beyond brand, which serves as the card game’s crossover line. Earlier this year at MagicCon in Las Vegas, Wizards of the Coast revealed its in-universe sets for 2027, covering three of six planned expansions. The remaining three are Universes Beyond titles.

The two prior Marvel crossover sets have received mixed reactions. The Spider-Man set was widely regarded as disappointing, while Marvel Superheroes featured numerous strong cards and an engaging limited format environment.
The Magic: The Gathering panel at NYCC begins at 7:45 pm ET / 4:45 pm PT. It will not be streamed live.
I’m about to head over to the panel, but it looks like Wizards of the Coast has already announced the new set on YouTube. It’s Darkhold Destiny, and it looks like a completely original take on Marvel. None of the cards or mechanics have been announced, but this fits Magic’s world much better than Spider-Man or Marvel Superheroes did.
