और अधिक Massively Effective tunes incoming

One of the composers who contributed to the scores of the original Mass Effect trilogy has decided to re-score the Mass Effect Universe trailer that leaked following the game’s cancellation and BioWare’s closure. Sam Hulick’s aim, aside from making this year’s N7 Day a little less depressing if he can deliver as planned, is to share some of his “musical vision” for the RPG.
Hulick announced his plan on BlueSky, having already started working on a new score for the trailer “for no reason other than closure”. “My plan is to release the re-scored Mass Effect Universe trailer for N7 Day,” he wrote. “A little tight, since I’m a bit busy pitching for a new game, but I’ll see what I can do! I don’t wanna rush it, and I want it to properly represent my musical vision for MEU.”
With composer Austin Wintory having recently released a collection of tunes he put together while in talks to potentially work on a proper soundtrack for what would have been the fifth Mass Effect game, Hulick’s efforts will mean there are two different takes on what Universe might’ve sounded like out there in the wild. It’s somewhat of a silver lining to the dark cloud of the game’s demise. You can rightly argue that any canned game tends to be eulogised in terms that point to it having had the potential to be the best thing since sliced bread in a fashion that perhaps over-eggs the pudding a bit, but it’s always interesting to learn what those who did or could have worked on such games had in mind.
Having takes on Universe’s soundtrack from both Hulick and Wintory out there certainly isn’t hurting anyone. The former’s also offered his view on the ongoing community-driven efforts to pressure EA into not putting the series on ice, as they have the likes of Burnout in the past. “What really sucks & cannot be undone is all the folks at BioWare who lost their jobs,” he wrote. “Even if EA licensed the IP, that doesn’t solve anything for them. Someone with a lotta cash would have to license it AND hire the team.”
Until such a miracle materializes, the trailer, these musical pieces, and other details shared by former BioWare developers about what the studio hoped to accomplish with Universe serve to ensure fans aren’t entirely left in the dark regarding the work underway during BioWare’s final chapter.
