The game that launched the franchise introduced players to Simon Belmont and the Belmont clan, a lineage of vampire hunters locked in an eternal struggle against Dracula and the forces of darkness. It also marked the first appearance of the Vampire Killer, the whip that would become the series’ most recognizable weapon.
