We always assumed GTA 6 would be a massive download, and reports published today suggest we may now know just how much space it will claim on our PlayStation and Xbox consoles. According to multiple sources, the game weighs in at a staggering 210 GB.

The figure first surfaced via the PlayStation Game Size account on Twitter/X, which, true to its name, tracks the file sizes of various PlayStation titles.

It was soon corroborated by Insider Gaming, lending weight to the likelihood that the figure is accurate.
That is a large file, indeed. It is not the largest, though. On console, it is surpassed by several Call of Duty entries and ARK: Survival Evolved once all the involved DLC is accounted for. For someone playing on an original Xbox Series S, GTA 6 will consume nearly two-thirds of usable storage space. It would likely mean deleting nearly everything currently installed—leaving room for this and Elden Ring: Nightreign, at most.
This is for consoles, of course. Who knows what the PC version will look like—whenever it inevitably arrives.
That figure also doesn’t account for anything else you might need to install alongside GTA 6. There could be a day-one patch, and while nothing has been announced, there will almost certainly be various content updates or even DLC added further down the line. It doesn’t include whatever the game’s version of GTA Online turns out to be, whenever that finally arrives. Put all of that together, and it could easily become quite the space hog.
Then again, what did anyone expect? The level of detail in this game is off the charts. You don’t get a large, granular open world that reacts to you and to itself without taking up enormous amounts of space. No one was anticipating GTA 6 to be a small game; the fact that it’s apparently not the biggest ever is, honestly, a relief. Of course, all of this could change on launch day. Make sure you’ve got the space free and a good internet connection ready for that download, because it’s going to be a doozy.
