GTA 6 Release Times and Preload: When Can You Start Playing?

As one of the most anticipated games ever, GTA 6 is now just weeks away. With the launch approaching, we are covering everything you need to know about its PS5 release, including preload options and release times. This GTA 6 guide looks at the GTA 6 release times and preload.

What Are the GTA 6 Release Times?

Rockstar has not yet revealed any worldwide GTA 6 release times, so for now we are assuming the game will unlock and become available at midnight on 19 November in your local timezone. If that changes, we will update the article.

When Can You Preload GTA 6?

If you pre-order the game, GTA 6 will be available to preload from 12 November, one week before it comes out.

Pre-ordering digitally means your preload should start automatically on PS5 as soon as it becomes available. The boxed physical version, which is just a code in the box, comes out on 12 November, the same day. You can redeem the code inside the case and start preloading the digital version of GTA 6 if you buy the game that way.

What’s the GTA 6 File Size for Download?

The file size of GTA 6 has not been officially shared yet, so we do not currently know how much data you will be downloading to your PS5 in the coming weeks. But, given the size and scale of the game, it is expected to take up a great deal of space.

Since the title is not shipping on a disc in the physical version, Rockstar does not need to worry about keeping the file size reasonable to fit onto a disc — or two (or three). That is unless it wants to ship the disc and then require a major download once it is inserted into the PS5.

One suggestion of the GTA 6 file size on PS5 comes from the Twitter account PlayStation Game Size, which scrubs the PS Store backend for information. They claim GTA 6 is a 210GB download on PS5. However, this has not been confirmed and is not official. This could fluctuate between now and release as Rockstar patches the game up until launch.

What PS5 Versions of GTA 6 Are There?

GTA 6 is available digitally on the PS Store, or in a basic physical version that ships without a disc. The latter provides a code in the box that you redeem on the PS Store to get the digital version.

The two PS5 digital versions on offer are as follows:
