GTA 6 disc version will reportedly be coming in December, insider claims

Graczdari, the European distributor responsible for physical game sales and known for accurately predicting release dates for titles such as Oblivion: Remastered, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for the Switch 2, and the PS5 version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, has confirmed that a disc edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 will arrive later this year.

According to a new report from PPE.pl, the initial batch of GTA 6 will be delivered as “code in a box” editions, while both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will receive genuine physical copies with a disc in December.

Graczdari added that the code-based release will be a one‑time event, with the disc version arriving only after the initial run sells out. If the information holds true, it means that once the boxed copies with codes are depleted, no further physical editions will be available until the December disc launch.

In light of the growing trend where players obtain physical copies of titles ahead of launch—often through retailers who receive shipments early—and subsequently stream them online, Rockstar has opted to launch GTA 6 without a physical disc. This strategy is intended to curb premature spoilers and protect the game’s narrative integrity.

Beyond the spoiler‑prevention angle, the digital‑only release is a smart financial move. By eliminating the costs associated with manufacturing and distributing discs, Rockstar can secure higher profit margins. Industry analysts project that GTA 6 will become the most profitable entertainment launch ever.

The base edition of GTA 6 will be priced at $80 USD, while the Ultimate Edition—featuring a suite of exclusive in‑game rewards—will retail for $100 USD.
