Rockstar Games has unveiled a $400 collector’s set for the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto VI, but the premium box will not include a copy of the game itself. Known as GTA 6: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, the merchandise package is packed with Vice City–themed goodies and is available to pre-order now through Rockstar’s official website, with a physical release scheduled for November 19. The move comes as the studio ramps up its marketing push in the weeks before launch, which is set for just under two months away.
The set is a deliberate cash grab for the most devoted fans, offering a curated array of high-end memorabilia rather than a playable title. According to Rockstar, the box will contain a pair of Oakley Frogskins sunglasses with Prizm Sapphire lenses, a New Era 9FORTY snapback hat featuring Vice City Leonida embellishments, a six-inch figure of Macca the Gator complete with a stash compartment, a magnetic mirror, a swizzle spoon, a razor blade keychain, a crossbody bag, a manatee shot glass, an enamel pin set housed in a custom metal tin, premium stickers, and a double-sided souvenir poster showcasing the full Leonida landscape. The collection leans heavily into the game’s crime-ridden paradise aesthetic, pairing licensed collaborations with nostalgic collectibles.
A Merch-Heavy Box, No Game Inside
The most notable aspect of the announcement is the explicit decision to exclude the game from the package. Historically, previous entries in both the GTA and Red Dead series have shipped with a physical map in the standard edition, a small but meaningful inclusion for players who prefer tangible items. Rockstar has not yet confirmed whether the boxed copies of GTA VI will carry a similar map, prompting questions about what the standard edition will contain beyond the base software.
What is clear, however, is that the items themselves are positioned as premium rather than budget-friendly. By partnering with established brands like Oakley, the studio is signaling that these goods are meant to be durable and collectible, rather than cheap gas-station-quality trinkets that degrade after a few months of use. That level of quality is likely to drive demand, with the set expected to sell out quickly and potentially resurface on resale platforms at inflated prices.

The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is built for the fans who want to bring a piece of Leonida home, and we’re proud to partner with brands that share our commitment to quality.
Rockstar Games
The community has already begun weighing in on the pricing, with many noting that the box is pricey but backed by genuinely high-quality goods. The trend toward expensive GTA VI merchandise appears to be part of a larger pattern. At Tokyo Game Show earlier this month, GTA VI–themed shirts were handed out as promotional giveaways, and those items have since been reselling online for hundreds of dollars. The appetite for branded merchandise around the title is clearly strong.
A Marketing Machine in Full Gear
Rockstar’s promotional activity has accelerated dramatically since pre-orders opened in June. After years of prolonged silence, the studio has delivered non-stop news, including a gameplay reveal at the end of August, the unveiling of limited-edition DualSense controllers, and the release of an album comprised of original music from major artists. The momentum continues with physical installations, including a massive “Welcome to Vice City” sign erected inside the Miami Heat’s arena in Florida, which reportedly cost the company nearly $1 million.

The studio’s strategy is unmistakably focused on building hype in the final stretch before launch. The marketing machine appears to be only just getting started, with the collector’s set serving as another high-profile touchpoint designed to keep the title front and center in the public consciousness.
Looking Ahead
It remains unclear whether Rockstar will share another look at the game before launch, though a final trailer is not out of the question. Some have speculated that a new reveal could arrive in mid-October, potentially timed to coincide with the start of the NBA regular season. Until then, the focus for collectors and fans alike will be on securing a copy of the $400 set ahead of its November 19 release, and watching to see whether the standard boxed edition of GTA VI includes the physical map that has become a hallmark of the series.
