A groom in China faced an unusual hurdle before he could lead his bride to their wedding ceremony: he had to defeat her in a game of Valorant.

Weddings are stressful enough without having to worry about your aim, but one Chinese couple decided to put their gaming skills to the test as part of their big day.
In a video circulating on Instagram, the groom was tasked with defeating his bride in Riot Game’ popular tactical shooter before he could take her to their wedding ceremony.
The challenge was reportedly part of a Chinese wedding tradition in which the groom and his friends must complete a series of tasks prepared by the bride and her bridesmaids.
Man beats bride in Valorant to take her to wedding
Rather than sticking with traditional wedding games, the couple decided to incorporate Valorant, a game they reportedly enjoy playing together.
Fortunately for the groom, he managed to emerge victorious, successfully completing the challenge and earning the right to collect his bride.
Talk about a clutch moment.
It’s not the first time a couple has brought their love of gaming into their wedding celebrations.
In 2023, a Chinese couple made headlines after turning their wedding into a League of Legends competition, with the bride defeating her husband and his wedding party.
Meanwhile, in February 2026, another gaming couple went viral after inviting Sony to their wedding, only for PlayStation to respond with free games and a congratulatory card.
For this particular groom, though, the stakes were considerably high. Fortunately, he secured the most important victory of his Valorant career.
