Google Meet Launches Gemini Notes—Boost Your Collaboration Effortlessly

Google has rolled out its Gemini‑driven “Take notes for me” tool to users of its AI Pro and Ultra plans. The new capability is accessible on both the web and mobile versions of Google Meet, and it supports a wide array of languages for meetings hosted by subscribers.

True to its name, the feature lets Gemini record the conversation, craft a concise summary, flag key action items, and store the resulting notes in a Google Doc within the user’s Drive. Following the session, the host gets an email containing the recap, and the document can be linked to the corresponding Calendar event if the meeting’s configuration permits.

The tool isn’t enabled by default for all users. Google confirms that every attendee receives a notification whenever note‑taking is activated, and participants can trigger it via the pencil icon in Meet or set it to start automatically on future calls through the meeting records settings.

In enterprise or educational environments, administrators retain control over the feature’s availability and can mandate explicit consent from participants before note‑taking, recording, or transcription is permitted.

According to Google’s help documentation, the tool presently covers eight languages—English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish—yet it can handle only a single language per session. Multilingual meetings are unsupported, and Google advises using the feature for gatherings lasting between 15 minutes and eight hours.

With this addition, Google Meet is narrowing the gap with competitors that already boast integrated AI capabilities. Microsoft Teams, for instance, has rolled out Copilot alongside smart recap functions that distill sessions, spotlight key moments, and streamline post‑meeting actions. Zoom’s AI Companion similarly produces summaries for both desktop and mobile encounters.
