puts the spotlight on King Ghidorah’s lightning-like gravity beams and Godzilla’s iconic atomic breath.

The new sneak peek debuted as part of New York Comic Con 2026. Toho refrained from showing its new design for Ghidorah yet again, but there is still plenty of new footage to see in the one-minute video.

The trailer teases an answer to how Noriko Oishi (played by Minami Hamabe) survived Godzilla’s first attack. The three-headed kaiju appears to zap airborne structures out of the sky as viewers are promised “pure carnage.” The returning human crew is set to “fight fire with fire” in the film.

With less than a month until its premiere, the filmmakers behind the Godzilla Minus One sequel seem to be saving the full Ghidorah reveal for theatergoers. The character’s redesign for the Minus universe will be revealed when it premieres November 6.

Godzilla Minus Zero’s NYCC presence extended beyond the trailer, with a panel featuring producer Kazuaki Kishida, visual effects artist and compositor Tatsuji Nojima, sound designer and Foley artist Natsuko Inoue, and production and post-production sound mixer Hisafumi Takeuchi. IGN attended the talk.

Nojima, who became the first Gen Z Oscar winner in the visual effects category for Godzilla Minus One, said his work on the 2023 film began as a hobby before director Takashi Yamazaki took note of his abilities. Kishida joked he “don’t know if I’d have a job right now” without the 25-year-old VFX artist’s contributions.

“There are even younger team members on the Godzilla Minus Zero team – 22, 23,” Kishida said via translator. “They’re talented enough to be given an entire cut or a scene to manage on their own. Director Yamazaki really likes working with young talent. I think he’s very open-minded, and he absorbs whatever fresh takes or new ways younger artists are approaching different problems… There isn’t really an age hierarchy in his organization.”

One VFX-packed scene shows Godzilla emerging from the ocean while chasing a plane. As the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX only, the process was especially complex; the ocean scene required 2 billion particles and was created by just two people.

The crew also had to be creative in imagining what creatures like Godzilla and Ghidorah would sound like in real life. While Godzilla Minus One’s roar was recorded in a baseball stadium, introducing new monsters for Godzilla Minus Zero led them to record audio in a dam.

“I recall there were people having a picnic, maybe people just taking a stroll,” Inoue said. “The person walking their dog, though, they had the worst time because the dog was freaking out and barking back at us.”

We’ve already published reviews for both films: IGN gave Godzilla Minus One an 8/10 and Godzilla Minus Zero a 7/10.
