The God of War Laufey Collector’s Edition has been revealed as a merchandise-only box set, distinguishing it from the standard and digital deluxe editions that opened for preorder last month. According to a report by Darryn Bonthuys for GameSpot, this edition offers no copy of the game itself.
Spotted on the UK PlayStation Direct store, the main attraction is a light-up statue depicting protagonist Faye (Kratos’s mother) locked in combat while Phranque the Cube looks on. The set also includes a deck of 51 oracle cards and a small art book, all housed in collector’s edition packaging.

As noted alongside the listing, God of War Laufey is sold separately. The edition costs £130 in the UK, with an equivalent US Dollar price expected given parity between PlayStation regions. Buyers will need to purchase a physical copy of the game—roughly $70—to complete their collection.
Sony has previously released collector’s editions that bundled digital download keys for games, and merchandise-only box sets are not uncommon. A few weeks ago, Rockstar Jocuri revealed its $400 GTA 6 Collector’s Edition, which comes with a variety of bonus items.
Such boxes typically target dedicated high-spending superfans willing to pay extra for physical content while serving as high-margin merchandise. Distribuitors can also reduce costs by omitting the game, streamlining supply chains and lowering production overhead—essentially yielding a larger profit slice for companies while offering limited-edition swag to wealthy collectors.
In other God of War news, the next entry in the series will see Kratos return to the spotlight, picking up directly after the end of God of War Laufey. A live-action God of War TV series is also in development for Prime Video, with new lead Dave Bautista working to get shredded for the role following the departure of original Kratos actor Ryan Hurst due to injury.
