Sucker Punch Productions, the Sony-owned PlayStation Studio and Ghost of Yotei developer, has reportedly made cuts to its workforce.

According to Aftermath, which cites an unnamed former Sucker Punch employee, at least 26 jobs have been cut. The studio is estimated to employ roughly 230 people.
The layoffs come somewhat as a surprise, since Yotei is apparently one of Sony’s best-selling PS5 releases to date.
But it sounds like Sucker Punch is undergoing some kind of restructuring as it prepares to ramp up the production of its next project.
An internal email shared with Aftermath reads: “After carefully observing the challenges in the market and reviewing the team needs for our next project, we’ve decided to make some staffing reductions. Several positions across Sucker Punch will be eliminated as a result.”
It continues: “We know this is a lot to take in, and we want to assure you that we did not make this decision lightly. We have given this a lot of attention and worked to support our affected colleagues during this transition as well as we can […] There’s no getting around that this is a hard day. Next week we will go into more details about the future.”
I imagine that an official statement will be made in the near future.
In the meantime, we here at Push Square wish those impacted by the layoffs all the best.
