Crunchyroll has unveiled additional details on the upcoming anime adaptation of Sony’s Ghost of Tsushima, announcing a cast and crew alongside a release window set for 2028.
According to a report by Darryn Bonthuys for GameSpot, while story specifics remain limited, the project confirmed that actors Mayumi Saco and Shinya Fukumatsu will voice characters. Saco previously voiced Tomoe in Ghost of Tsushima—a master archer and pupil of the renowned Sensei Ishikawa—while Fukumatsu lent his vocals to One-Punch Man as the martial arts master Bomb.

The production also features notable behind-the-scenes talent. Takanobu Mizuno, who directed Star Wars: Visions’s “The Duel,” will direct the anime, produced at animation studio Kamikaze Douga, known for Batman: Ninja and multiple Star Wars: Visions shorts.

Gen Urobuchi (Psycho-Pass) and Renji Oki (Azur Lane) are handling the story. Keiji Inai serves as music composer, Yoshikazu Iwanami handles sound direction, and Gyousyou Suzuki brings calligraphy to the project.
The source material video game Ghost of Tsushima first launched in 2020 for PS4 before receiving an upgrade for PS5. Its sequel, Ghost of Yotei, released in 2025 and later received a “Complete Edition” that adds the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion and bundles in the Legends multiplayer mode.

Anime adaptations of video games continue to proliferate, with multiple projects at various stages of development. From Software’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Bloodborne are receiving anime treatments, while Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding universe expands through an anime film and a separate anime series heading to Disney+.
