Analisi: Making the demo widely accessible signals Capcom’s confidence in the title’s market appeal and provides a broad audience with a taste of the game’s early gameplay, potentially bolstering pre‑order momentum and community buzz ahead of the full release.

In the demo, players can experience the opening chapters of the game, though Capcom has clarified that any progress made in the demo will not carry over to the complete version.

Resident Evil 9 has already proven to be a blockbuster for Capcom, raking in 7 million copies within just two months of its February launch, making it the fastest‑selling entry in the Resident Evil franchise to date.

To celebrate this milestone, Capcom hosted a celebratory staff event in April, which was graced by Geoff Keighley, producer of The Game Awards.

Capcom announced that Resident Evil Requiem shattered expectations by moving 5 million units in its first week, and the title crossed the 6 million mark within just a few weeks of launch.

Series historian Alex Aniel highlighted that the quickest previous Resident Evil title to hit the 7 million sales threshold was Resident Evil 4 (2023), which required 12 months and one week to reach that milestone.

Capcom’s top‑selling entries in the series remain the 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake with 16.8 million copies sold, followed by Resident Evil 7 (16.4 million), Resident Evil Village (13.5 million), and the 2023 Resident Evil 4 (12.2 million).
