Alright, let’s cut to the chase. I’ve been running Vanguard on my rig for competitive play, and I keep hitting a wall with IRQL handling between the anti-cheat driver and my third-party RGB/macro software. When Vanguard’s kernel module ramps to DIRQL during a handshake, does it properly defer lower-priority ISR calls, or are we seeing real contention that’s tanking my frame pacing? Mer importantly—how do you reliably detect an unauthorized kernel hook without false-positiving on legitimate overlay drivers that also sit in Ring 0? I’ve read about SSDT/IDT hook signatures, but the detection logic feels fragile across driver updates.

On the stability front, my system BSODs with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL roughly once a week, and I suspect it’s a race between BattlEye’s driver and my NVMe storage stack under load. Does anyone have a workflow for isolating which driver’s IRQL violation is the culprit using WinDbg crash dumps? And how are you all handling driver signing enforcement on custom test builds—certutil validation, testsigning toggles—without breaking EAC’s integrity checks? Would love real root-cause stories, not the marketing spin.

Here’s the thing most people miss when their game won’t launch: Vanguard (vgk.sys/vgc.exe) actually runs at Ring 0 with a Type 1 anti-cheat architecture, which is fundamentally different from how EAC and BattlEye historically operated. The most common failure mode I’ve seen in competitive setups is the Hyper-V conflict — Vanguard refuses to initialize its kernel driver if it detects hypervisor-enaved code path (HVCI) or any enabled virtualization, because it needs exclusive control over execution validation. If you’re getting the “V
