I’ve been running thermal profiling between ranked sessions and the numbers keep pointing me toward a genuine dilemma. Liquid metal at ~80 W/mK absolutely demolishes PTM7950’s 12 W/mK on paper, but I keep seeing the pump-out effect cited as the thing that kills an LTA after a few cycles.

On the throttling side, what people usually misunderstand is that it’s not just about hitting a max temperature—it’s about the thermal resistance chain. Your junction-to-ambient resistance (θJA) is the sum of the junction-to-case, case-to-heatsink (the interface!), and heatsink-to-air resistances. The interface material is often the bottleneck in thin chassis: a paste at ~0.05 °C·in²/W versus an air

Thermal throttling on modern silicon is fundamentally about managing thermal impedance, not just chasing lower idle temps. When the die hits TJ-max (usually 95-100°C on current mobile/APD dies), the SoC engages a closed-loop power limit that ramps down clocks in discrete steps—what actually kills gaming performance isn’t the peak temp itself, it’s the thermal slope and how aggressively the governor backs off. If your thermal pad
